ER5554 is intended as a matching filler alloy when welding 5454 base alloys.
This combination of alloys does not become sensitive to stress corrosion cracking at elevated temperatures and is used in those applications that may be subjected to temperatures in excess of 150°F. ER5554 is widely used in the manufacture of chemical storage tanks, automotive wheels, over-the-road trailers, and rail tank cars.
