ER5356 is a great general purpose filler alloy designed for the welding of 5XXX series alloys when 40,000 psi (276 MPa) tensile strength is not required.

ER5356 is a 5% Magnesium aluminum that offers corrosion resistance when exposed to salt water. It is used to weld 5050, 5052, 5083, 5356, 5454, and 5456 base metal.

Feature

  • Shaved for ultimate cleanliness.
  • AWS A5.10 and ASME SFA A5.10
  • Filler metal rod for TIG (GTAW) welding process; general purpose aluminum welding rod, all position used to weld 5000 series aluminum base metals.
  • It has relatively high resistance to cutting, as well as excellent resistance to corrosion to salt water; shielding required, generally 100% argon, helium, or a mixture.
  • Optimized to reduce fumes and shaved for ultimate cleanliness of wire.
  • This type is also useful if color match is important after anodizing.
  • Excellent corrosion resistance when exposed to salt water.
  • Used mainly for welding aluminum of like composition. This type is also useful if color match is important after anodizing.
